For one thing you are putting aside some money for retirement, which is the first thing you need to do to insure those winters down south. You certainly won’t be getting away from the cold harsh winters if you are living just on Social Security income.

And second with both scenarios, you are realizing a tax savings; either at time of investment or at time of withdrawal. Tax savings mean more money in your pocket to go south for the winter. Both scenarios are good.
